Firstly, let’s explore some of this property’s history-
It is a markable building in the centre of Velez Blanco, once owned by the well-known family of Torrente Villena. They were one of the most important land owners across the region, they were given by Papal brief, the licence for an oratory in the home. It was the original base of the Franciscan Convent of San Luis Obispo. Also, one of the occupants, Francisco was also a Knight of the Order of Saint John of Jerusalem.
The current owners have tastefully restored the property to retain the heritage and added an artistic touch. The warmth and love in the hotel is felt throughout.
Now to explore the impressive building-
We enter this historical building into the reception lounge and bar area. The house layout naturally leads us through to the two dining rooms with featured arched doors, all with Juliette balconies to embrace the valley views. The bar area to the left, has been purpose built with beautiful carved, substantial wood surrounds. The bar could be fully functional as already hosts storage shelving, beer coolers and a professional coffee machine. There is a storage room off of this area to accommodate relevant stock. The bar is complimented with bar stools and an additional table and seating area.
The reception lounges immediately set the tone for this hotel- warm, homely and charming. It offers the original stately charm, perfectly blended with unique commissioned furniture and art- all sourced by local arts/crafts/tradesman.
There is a fully equipped kitchen that currently offers breakfasts for guests, however could easily be adapted to offer so much more.
On the ground floor, there is a further welcoming lounge area with the guest rooms leading off.
The charismatic charm and warmth of this bespoke boutique hotel extends over the 1st and 2ndfloors. Both have central lounge/dining rooms for guests to relax and recharge or mix and mingle. With further guest rooms leading off of the central lounge rooms. The 2nd floor hosts the large suites. Each suite is carefully designed with unique furniture and fittings to continue your tranquil stay.
As we head back downstairs, we first find the hidden gem of the winery- including the original wine vats. This is a real curiosity room where your guests can explore and learn more about the local wine history.
On the lower floor we also have ladies and gent’s public toilet facilities, the Conference/Events room and entrance to the outside terrace.
The spacious conference/events room has arched feature windows/doors with Juliette balconies offering views over the valleys. This space will totally embrace your conference candidates to facilitate and engage with creativity. This space would also be perfect for holding Wedding ceremonies/celebration events.
There is also the rear doorway to the under build which houses the water storage tanks (4 x 1500 litre tanks), gas storage for the central heating-fitted with the fire suppressor, laundry room, staff facilities including showers and locker rooms, storage rooms.
There is also access to the under build from the front reception lounge. This area could be included in to the hotel space to offer additional business opportunities- possibly Hair and Beauty rooms, to expand the business model to become a Boutique Spa Hotel.
The left-hand side of the hotel could become a separate business model- incorporating treatment rooms in to the events area with the outside garden.
The current owners had great success in providing company facilities- an idyllic place to stay, then hosting sales and marketing conferences, with break out areas across the floors. In recent years, the hotel has been building on the bespoke Boutique Hotel offering- this year hosting a bird watching group of visitors. The current guests come to stay from all over Europe, the area benefits from a 12-month season as well.
The hotel has built a reputation of offering a very friendly, personal accommodation, we feel there is so much opportunity to further build the business model.
The hotel is offered as a turnkey business, fully equipped and furnished, even with personal branded toiletries excluding some of the original artworks (that could be negotiated in your purchase)
This really is a unique opportunity to purchase a beautifully restored Boutique Hotel in a prime location.

The local area
Bring your Spanish dreams to life in the beautiful area of Los Vélez- including the towns of Vélez Rubio, Vélez Blanco & Chirivel. All the surrounding towns offer quite impressive scenery Velez Blanco- having its own Castle that sits proudly in the mountains overlooking the valleys. Have you seen the Indalo man on your travels in the region, this is a symbol of good luck and safekeeping. The original drawings can still be seen in the caves near Vélez Blanco/Vélez Rubio. The Indalo man is now recognized as the official symbol of Almeria- the is one important rule to follow- you cannot buy an Indalo man keepsake for yourself-they have to be gifted to you. The symbol itself is said to represent a human holding a rainbow overhead. Originally, the symbol was painted on the front of your property to protect them from evil. You can find many decorations now including the popular symbol. Vélez Rubio is ranked in the top 10 places to visit in Southern Spain to enjoy the local celebrations and fiestas. We highly recommend enjoying one of the restaurants in the Plaza De La Encarnacion in Vélez Rubio or embrace the spectacular views enjoying a morning coffee at the Hotel Velad Al Abyadh in Vélez Blanco. The town has a great market on Saturdays- offering locally grown fruit & veg, a good selection of clothing too. There are also over 50 restaurants and bars for your entertainment. The area offers vast outdoor activities all year round- hiking, biking & trekking. The beautiful Lake Negratin is not far away offering water sports and natural spas for your pure relaxation.
